The short answers?Yes. You can absolutely catch NPCs in the game, but it’s not that easy to accomplish. The catch rate of NPCs in the game is very low compared to Pals of the same level. It’s like catching a legendary. Except, this legendary is almost useless other than some interesting cases.
How To Catch Humans?
Catching humans, while difficult, is fairly simple.
The process is essentially the same ascatching a normal Pal, but with a higher difficulty setting. Once you assault an NPC in front of other NPCs, you will become wanted, prompting guards to come after you. When this happens, let the guards kill you.
After respawning, head back to the place where you died and pick up your belongings, which will include your newly caught NPC Pal. Congratulations, you’re now in the human trafficking business!
Should You Catch Humans?
While an interesting gimmick, is there any substance to catching humans in Palworld? Well, yes and no. There isn’t any black market out there where you can sell humans at ridiculous prices, and they don’t have any useful abilities to speak of when caught.
Keeping all that in mind, what possible use case is there for having a human Pal? The answer is simple, merchants. Though you don’t get everything your merchant pal owns once you capture them, it’s still worth the hassle. Not all merchants have the same items. Different merchants across the map sell a variety of things, some of them useful, some not as useful. Some of them, like Wandering Merchants, are fairly hard to find as well. This makes them the perfect candidates for catching.
Capturing a merchant will let you enjoy all that they offer from thecomforts of your home. You’ll cut back on travel time and have the kind of convenience only human trafficking or large-scale industrialization can bring. Since there’s no coal in Palworld, we’ll have to settle for a necessary evil for the time being.
