One of the best aspects ofOne Pieceas a series is that despite being one of the longest-running stories in the world, each and every arc of the series introduces new twists and turns that make the story exciting and thrilling. From the adventures during the Skypiea Island arc to the struggles of the Sabaody Archipelago arc,One Piecehas it all.

However, out of the many arcs thatOne Piecehas introduced over the years, the one that is considered to be one of the, if not the best storyline, is probably the Wano arc. The events of the Wano arc brought a major shift in theOne Piecenarrative, and thus, it has a lot of significance. But even after being one of the greatestOne Piecearcs, Wano has some flaws that need to be addressed.
One of the major flaws that Wano had, according to the fans, was the unnecessary dragging of the different events of the story that stretched Wano to 149 chapters in manga and 195 episodes in anime. But theOne Pieceanime still managed to compensate for it through other elements, and the credit for this goes to Toei Animation.

The Wano arc inOne Piecewas necessarily long
One Piecefans have never shied away from criticizing the series when it fumbles at some point, and Wano was the prime example of this. Although the overall storyline of Wano is filled with thrill, drama, and emotions, it was still criticized for being necessarily long. This resulted in a large chunk ofOne Piecefans losing interest in the story.

Eiichiro Odawanted to make Wano special, but in doing so, he introduced so many different events and plots that it stretched the arc too long. From Oden’s journey of the world to the history of Wano, all of these events were significant for the central storyline, but adding insignificant details to it made the overall narrative insufferable.
The main issue, however, was the fact that even after stretchingthe story for so long, Oda still forgot a few important aspects of the Wano arc. The biggest proof of this was Roronoa Zoro’s backstory, which didn’t get any importance in the narrative, despite being hinted at for so long. It was truly a big disappointment for manyOne Piecefans.

Toei Animation somehow saved Wano arc
While the Wano arc was brutally criticized for being excessively long, most of the criticism fell on theOne Piecemanga series. This was shocking considering the fact that the anime series was even bigger than the manga. However, the length of the Wano arc was compensated by the animation quality and the visual representation of the anime.
The quality of the animation in theOne Piecefranchise has improved in recent years. Toei has been working on making theOne Pieceanime experience better, and this was particularly seen during the battles of the Wano arc.

From theclash between Kaido and Luffyto Luffy’s Gear 5 transformation, the animation was top-notch during the entire Wano arc.

Thus, when manga fans criticized the Wano arc for being insufferable,One Pieceanime fans were happy and satisfied with the visual representation they witnessed during Wano. This also helped in developing the overall image of the contentious arc as one of the greatest storylines in the history ofOne Piece.
