Out of the many mysteries sailing the seas ofOne Piece, five have been personified in the form of the Gorosei. There is not much revealed about them while also enough is given to have fans theorize about their existence left and right. For beings who were supposedly present during the formation of the World Government and may have also witnessed the reign of Nika, the way they talk about it all would suggest otherwise.

One Piece

It feels almost as if they are narrating a legend that reciting their past. With the way things were suggested, there is a likely chance that the Void Century did not have the Gorosei. In fact, their ambiguous nature of existence could answer more about them than Eiichiro Oda let on.

The Gorosei Are Hiding a Big Secret in One Piece

Immortal beings either have a beginning that is too far and wide or not one at all. For the Gorosei, it was more likely the latter than the former. Their presence in the entire series has often made fans ponder upon the truth of their origins and also the depths of their immortal nature.

In a theory suggested by@writingpanini on X, the Gorosei may be holding onto a secret about their true origins. Their lack of proper knowledge regarding the Void Century and Nika makes it possible to assume that they never existed during that period, contrary to popular belief.

Five Elders in One Piece

With the way they converse about the past, it feels almost like telling a story. Their own opinions aren’t part of the tale, as would be the case if they were present. It is only natural to add one’s opinions regarding matters they witnessed. However, for the Gorosei, that is not the case. If they didn’t exist during that period, then there is also a strong chance they were created.

That which is created can also be destroyed. That is, the Five Elders may not be as immortal as fans believe them to be. In fact, they could simply be mortal beings, just not the human kind.

Eiichiro Oda Might Give Luffy His Final Battle with Blackbeard

If the theory were to come true, then the Five Elders would have a glaring weakness in the form of their mortality. If they can be defeated, even with a lot of effort, then there is a stronger chance forEiichiro Odato set up the story in different ways. Luffy, who is already a part of the final race towards the One Piece, could be facing someone else instead of the Gorosei and the World Government.

His current position inOne Pieceis that of a primary antagonist and slowly but steadily, Oda could be looking towards making Blackbeard the final villain of the series. If things continue going in the same direction, there the likelihood of him facing off against Luffy also grows increasingly.

He still acts as one of the strongest characters in the series and his hostility towards the protagonist makes their chemistry even better. To find them fighting each other at the very end of the manga and anime fans have been following for over two decades would be both satisfying and mesmerizing at the same time.
