The Void Century is one of the greatest mysteries inOne Piecethat the characters within the series and the fans are eager to find out more about. So far, only bits and pieces have been revealed with significant figures from that era being reincarnated or the more appropriate way to define it, their “second coming” has happened.

One Piecehas revealed some lore about Joy Boy, Nefertari D. Lili, and the true form of the Ancient Weapon, Poseidon, all of whom have now resurfaced in Luffy, Vivi, and Shirahoshi. Imu considers these incarnations a threat, but they curiously have Blackbeard’s Wanted Poster clubbed to theirs.
While many believe Blackbeard is the second coming of the mysterious and powerful Rocks D. Xebec, some argue he might be the second coming of Imu. There are several hints as to why the first theory could be true but the second theory we’re talking about also has some interesting evidence. Will thisOne Piecetheory come true?

Blackbeard Is The Biggest Threat To Imu’s Throne
Imu has Wanted Posters and photographs of Blackbeard, Monkey D. Luffy, Nefertari Vivi and Shirahoshi. They don’t seem to be keeping them as fan merchandise since they sliced them all up. However, fans can’t seem to find anything in common with them all. The first three have the Will of D which is a threat to the World Government but Shirahoshi is the odd one out. The next theory is that they’re all connected to significant figures from the Void Century which Imu was clearly from. But where does Blackbeard fit in?

Marshall D. Teach was a Whitebeard Pirate turned traitor, the Admiral of the Blackbeard Pirates, and one of the Four Emperors. When Jaygarcia Saturn asked about their goal, they replied with “the world.” Withhow terrible their actionshave been so far, Blackbeard clearly wants to rule over the world ofOne Pieceand this is a direct threat to Imu’s plans.
The biggest hint towards Blackbeard being the second coming of Imu rather thanRocks D. Xebecis their association with darkness. Imu looks like a dark silhouette and whenever they eliminate any adversaries, the Five Elders specifically say, “Whose light should we extinguish.” Similarly, Blackbeard’s Yami Yami no Mi grants him the ability to create darkness and he extinguished Ace’s light during their battle.

Why This Theory Can or Can’t Work inOne Piece
Blackbeard is definitely one of the biggest threats inOne Pieceand to Luffy but is he truly the second coming of Imu? Considering Imu is alive, it’s unlikely he’s the incarnation or a legit second coming. While the association with darkness is an interesting link, how would Teach come back as Imu without them dying first like the rest of the Void Century figures?

Still, the Emperor is a huge threat to Imu’s throne as they both share the same goal of dominating the world and bringing destruction. Perhaps he’s just too close to their throne for Imu’s comfort. Moreover, history could repeat itself with Luffy, Shirahoshi, and Vivi having to face off against him just like Imu might have during the Void Century with their counterparts.
