Background
Alvida is one of the earliestfemale pirate charactersintroduced in the One Piece manga and anime series. While clearlyinspired by the famous legendary female pirateAwilda, Alvida brings her own distinct persona to the One Piece world. Awilda was a woman who, according to myth, disguised herself as a man in order to lead a pirate crew in the fifth century. She was said to have great success plundering ships in the Baltic Sea, eventually becoming queen of Denmark after marrying the king.
Meanwhile, Alvida’s appearance in Live Action is that of a large, obese woman with a fearsome face. She wears a feather coat and a captain’s hat and carries a giant iron mace, which she calls Iron Mace. Alvida first appears in One Piece when Luffy inadvertently boards her ship.She orders her crew to kill him, but Luffy defeats her with a single punch, a feat made possible by his Gomu Gomu no Mi (Rubber-Rubber Fruit) powers.
