One Piece Chapter 1098: Spoilers
Chapter 1098 is titled “Birth of Bonney,” and it starts with Ginny, a member of the Revolutionary Army, being kidnapped to become Tenryuubito’s wife, but we don’t know who the Tenryuubito is. Sadly, Ginny’s entire Revolutionary Army group is wiped out in a surprise attack by the World Government.
Ginny gives birth to a child named Bonney, but she contracts a rare and deadly disease called “Sapphire Scale.” This illness makes the person’s skin turn blue and harden like scales when exposed to natural light. Ginny becomes unrecognizable due to this disease. The Tenryuubito releases her, and Ginny returns to the Sorbet Kingdom, leaving Bonney with the island’s elders. She contacts the Revolutionary Army from her church and says her goodbyes to them.
Ginny’s partner, Kuma, is devastated by her disease and her departure. He eventually decides to raise Bonney himself, teleporting to help the Revolutionary Army from time to time. Unfortunately, Bonney also starts showing signs of the “Sapphire Scale” disease, so Kuma decides to quit the Revolutionary Army to care for her. He is given permission by Dragon, the Revolutionary Army leader. Kuma calls Bonney “Jewelry” because her face has blue stones due to the disease.
As time passes, Kuma and Bonney live together, dancing and enjoying their time as father and daughter. Bonney believes her disease will be cured when she turns 10, and Kuma doesn’t want to shatter her hopes. However, they learn from a doctor that her condition will worsen with age, and she won’t make it past her 10th birthday.
The chapter ends with a new threat in the Sorbet Kingdom, as Bekori, the former Sorbet King, returns and starts causing harm to the citizens. People turn to Kuma for help in dealing with this dangerous situation.
