Based on the 2011 sci-fi novel byErnest Cline,Steven Spielberg’sReady Player One, despiteamassing $607 million at the box office, had its sequel run into uncertainty. A major reason behind the lack of feasibility for a sequel to theTye Sheridanstarrer came in the challenges associated with adapting the second novel in the series, especially after closing a character arc in the first iteration. In contrast to the first movie’s protagonist, Wade Watts, Cooke’s Art3mis differs in motivations and plans to bring about resounding change.
