If you found the difficulty settings inThe Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remasteredto be out of whack, there’s a new patch today that might fix that.
The update is called version 1.2 and will be available through Steam betas today. In addition to new settings to let players “fine-tune” their experience, it comes with a large number of bug fixes, includingresolving certain crashes.

Patch 1.2 also brings several much-needed performance updates and fixes to frame rate drops, hopefully addressingone of the biggest issuesplayers have had with the game, both on PC and on consoles.
There’s no firm date for the proper non-beta release of version 1.2, or when it will be available on other platforms aside from Steam.

New Difficulty Settings And Fixes
The main addition in the Oblivion Remastered patch 1.2 is the new selection of difficulty settings.
With the new update, players will be able to choose between a variety of settings to change the damage they deal to enemies, and vice versa.

For both their own and enemies’ combat damage, players will be able to choose from Novice, Apprentice, Adept, Journeyman, Expert, and Master options in the Gameplay menu.
According to Bethesda, the Journeyman setting is of particular note, as it’s meant to serve asa better bridge between the Adept and Expert difficulty levelsthan the game had before.

Aside from the new difficulty settings, there are some UI fixes, notably including fixing the issue with map markers disappearing, menu cropping at 1280x1024 resolution, and button labeling for AZERTY keyboards.

Nothing beats the excitement of a shadow drop, especially when it’s one of these games.
Patch 1.2 also fixes some crashes that could occur when killing or trying to paralyze enemies that are already paralyzed.

There are also more general gameplay fixes, such as certain NPCs’ beards not following their facial animations properly, knocked-out NPCs floating during the Priory of the Nine quest, and other animation issues.
