Norman Reedus has certainly paved his way in the film industry; unlike most actors, he isn’t afraid to shy away from his tattoos appearing in media. This includes his hand tattoo, that made its debut in theDeath StrandingE3 2018 trailer. And while the tattoo may be best remembered from the speculation revolving around that, it looks like it will be following him in all future performances – including recent cameos inThe Walking Dead. For those of you who may remember, during the PlayStation 2018 E3 Press Conference we got to see an extended look at Reedus' character – Sam – as he trekked through a multitude of environments. During a detour with invisible mud creatures, we see a close-up of Sam’s hand. In fact, you can go ahead and catch it around this point of the trailer:

Now let’s clarify something off the bat–the tattoo (likely) doesn’t have to do with aDeath Strandingplot point unless Kojima wants to loop it in.

While many within the dedicatedDeath Strandingcommunity were initially working around the clock to figure outif it was a Ludens referenceorto decode the secret in the stars, the answer was far more simple. It is just a brand new tat from Reedus, this time promoting hisgallery titled “Big Bald Gallery.” In fact, you can see Kojima tweeting about it vaguely (as is custom for the legendary developer):

However, it’s interesting to note that this tattoo isn’t only being memorialized withinDeath Stranding– it is also following Reedus' to his most notable role of Daryl Dixon inThe Walking Dead.

In a recently aired episode ofThe Walking Deadtitled “Adaption” (Season 9, Episode 9) we get a quick glimpse of Reedus' Daryl Dixon in a jail cell. As he holds up a knife, we can see his tattoo:

Though, things in the video are fairly dark and blurry – let’s offer up a lightened, enhanced version so you can see it more clearly:

It’s always great to see actors (both on-screen and voice actors) embrace their body art, and there is always going to be a tie toDeath Strandingin his future work – official or not.

This week has otherwise had some other cool piecemeal information aboutDeath Stranding– including how the female character from the same traileris a tribute to Disney’s Mary Poppins. Seriously.

Thoughmany people have had an opportunity to test out the game(and areoffering it high praise), we still have no confirmed release window for the PS4-exclusive title. If you want to show your early support for the developer, feel free topre-order the game on Amazon.
