Step 1: Defeating Automaton Pawns
As soon as the fight starts, the Bishop will summon3-4 golden automaton pawnsto the fight.Take out these smaller automatons first. These are fat robots that will walk up to you and explode likeproximity bombs, launching you backwards. Taking them out before focusing on the Bishop will allow you to avoid getting outnumbered.
Use a Mining Pickto damage the pawns. Among the basic tools, Mining Pick does the most damage to their metal bodies, making it the weapon of choice.
The pawns have awindup timebefore they’re ready to explode. They’ll get as close to you as possible, start spinning, and explode after a couple of seconds.When they start this animation, they cannot move, so you can easily just walk out of their range. Be careful, though, as the explosion radius is deceptively large. Theanimation can also be interruptedif you deal appreciable damage to them. I was constantly able to interrupt it using just a Simple Mining Pick.
Step 2: Defeating Automaton Bishop
Unlike the Automaton Knight, theAutomaton Bishop is a ranged characterthat can only deal damage from afar. Once the pawns are taken care of, the fight becomes easy. He has two main attacks that he can use.
Both of the Bishop’s attacks can be avoided by hiding behind a pillaror a wall. Use the environment to your advantage if you’re constantly getting taken down at range without getting a chance to close the distance.
Having a followerin this fight can make it extremely easy as they can draw the Bishop’s aggro, giving you a chance to dish out some damage without fear of retaliation.
Focus on landing hits on itsweak point, the blue orbin the middle of its chest to get a chance at someHeartshots. Like the pawns, the Mining Pick should be your weapon of choice here unless you have a high caliber pistol to do the heavy-lifting.
Closing in on the bishop prompts him to teleport after a brief pause. The teleport doesn’t deal damage to you but also cannot be interrupted.
