Indie studiotinyBuildhas released anew gameplay trailerfor its asymmetrical horror title Level Zero. In the video, fans can feel the terror of being a scientist running from monsters in an alien world.TinyBuild is well versed in publishing hit indie games. It’s the studio responsible for theHello Neighborfranchise, and in 2023, it’s hoping to release yet another horror hit.
Level Zero is an asymmetrical horror game, forcing up to four players to work together and escape the threat of the monster by restoring power. Guns and other weapons don’t make an appearance in this title. Instead, scientists hoping to survive will need light, and lots of it. The trailer shows players using flashlights, road flares, and floodlights to slow down their hunters.
While the monsters are incredibly sensitive to light, they do have ways around it. In the trailer, as one scientist turns on the light, the video switches to the perspective of a monster and viewers are treated to an array of psychic powers. The monster can set up remote EMP explosions, knocking out power in a specific area, and can even set living land mines for scientists to fall victim to.

Asymmetrical horror games have become hugely popular, with games likeDead by Daylightand other tinyBuild hitSecret Neighborleading the charts. Where Level Zero stands out, however, is in its number of monsters. Dead by Daylight and Secret Neighbor both feature one monster, or threat, to the group playing together. Level Zero changes this standard by adding a second monster into the mix.
Not only will scientists have to run from multiple threats, they will also have to face an essentially unstoppable enemy. Monsters in Level Zero may die, but they can also respawn an unlimited number of times, giving hunters numerous chances at their prey.
Scientists will have to use everything at their disposal if they want to survive the (many) monsters coming their way in 2023 when Level Zero is released.
