Mindy Kaling’sVelmahas reportedly come to an end, though Max has yet to make an official announcement. The show’s second season was a critical failure, which was enough for Max to kick it off their platform. Kaling’s show frustrated some fans right from the beginning with its diverse Velma Dinkley character and an alternate universe Mystery Inc.

These fans celebrated the show’s reported cancelation. Even fans accepting of all the changes found the series to be bad, as the comedy didn’t work for them. Unfortunately, Velma also did not feature Scooby-Doo, the main character of the original.
Mindy Kaling’sVelmaIs Reportedly Cancelled At Max After Two Seasons
Mindy Kalingexecutive produced and gave voice to the titular character in the adult animated comedyVelma. The show immediately caught the attention of fans for deviating significantly from the original franchise formula. While it received backlash from certain corners, others were more open-minded for the new queer and South Asian Velma Dinkley.

However, critics and audiences were largely critical of the meta-storytelling incorporated throughout the series. The writing and characterizationwere also sore points, with only the voice acting and animation being the positives that worked for the series. Besides Kaling, the voice cast included Glenn Howerton, Sam Richardson, andConstance Wu.
While Warner Bros. hasn’t officially announced the cancellation, background painter Davey Cummings recently wrote on his Instagram that there will not be a season 3 for the animated series. He later deleted that post, but the news spread fast among fans. His deleted post read (via Cosmic Book):

So fun working with this crew. There will not be a season 3, but I hope I get to work with these amazing talented people again one day. GO WATCH VELMA HALLOWEEN SPECIAL ON MAX!!
He later offered an update on his Instagram story, sharing that he actually had no idea whetherVelma Season 3would happen or not. He asked his fans not to take his post as an official announcement. He shared:

Hey guys, thnx so much for the follow and likes. Just wanted to announce that I actually have no idea if Velma is getting a Season 3 or not. Please do not take my posts as directions that Warner is going in.
While fans have bashed Max for several cancellations in the past, many felt that this decision was probably one of their better ones.Velma‘s cancellation will probably not come across as a big loss to TV or animation.
