Fans are surely hoping they are not waiting for nothing regarding George R.R. Martin’s highly anticipated sixth novelThe Winds of Winter. The manuscript has been in progress since at least 2010, and yet, more than a decade has passed, bookstore shelves still haven’t got it.

What’s taking the author so long to finish the novel? He was able to produce the prequel seriesFire & Bloodin 2018, so he must have had a lot of spare time writing it. One reason that he provided was that he was busy with his television projects, but didn’t he make a promise before that his focus would remain on the book series?

There’sHouse of the DragonSeason 3 andA Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and then a bunch of projects that are in early development, such asAegon’s ConquestandNine Voyages.
What does not add up is the fact that he said in the same conversation that he has had the story in his mind since the beginning: “I’m just still writing the story that I set out to write in the early 1990s.”
