10Cyrax (Kameo Fatality)

If You Destroy The Planet For The Win, Is It Really A Win?

Cyrax has always been one of the most iconic Mortal Kombat characters in the game, making his debut in Mortal Kombat 3. Initially, the fatality that made his character so iconic belonged to Cyber Smoke in that same game and was later transferred to Cyrax because it felt like a better fit.

Regardless, in Mortal Kombat 1,Cyrax is one of the most used and loved Kameo fightersin the game right now, and his fatality is just as iconic. As a callback to the classics, Cyrax was given his classic explode the world fatality with a couple of bombs, and though it seems impossible from a physics perspective, the iconic fatality remains one of the all-time bests and most brutal in this game.

9Lui Kang (Spaghettification)

God-Like Powers Have Some Great Perks

By the end of Mortal Kombat 11,Lui Kang first becomes a Fire God and subsequently the Keeper of Time, an immortal titan. Given his abilities of being literally the creator of everything, it’s not surprising that he can successfully summon a black hole for a brutal fatality.

The black hole manages to peel the skin and bones off the opponent while Lui Kang stands there majestically unaffected by the most powerful phenomena in the universe. Perhaps even more impressive feat is that Lui Kang manages to make his opponent scream in the vacuum of space, which by all accounts, should be impossible.

8Reiko’s For The General

The Most Painful-Looking Fatality

Both of Reiko’s fatalities in Mortal Kombat 1 are remarkably brutal and unique. They were so close to each other in terms of quality, but For the General managed to edge it out with over-the-top violence.

The Fatality features brute force ripping, impaling, and an eventual execution, all done by Reiko’s bare hands. It looks to be the most painful fatality of them all. Its realistic visuals and extra violence for the sake of violence really add to the depth of the fatality. Watching it really emphasizes how brutal the world of Mortal Kombat 1 can be.

7Reptile Indigestion

Is It Canabalism If Reptile Eats Someone?

Reptile’s redesign and rework in the story transformed himfrom a memorable villain to a loveable hero, yet again proving that Lui Kang’s design of giving even the villains like Reptile and Baraka a choice to be better was a great decision story-wise.

Mortal Kombat 1 features a number of incredible performances from its stars. This list breaks down the best characters VAs in the game.

That said, nothing encapsulates heroism better than when the supposed hero chomps on his opponent while simultaneously digesting them and eventually spitting out a somehow alive half-body. This eating fatality is one of the best. Reptile really gets his time to shine both as a character and as a brutal finisher with this fatality.

6Shang Tsung Fatality Two

Cutest Fatality With Some Brutal Consequences

The return of Shang Tsung andhis never-ending schemes is a hallmark of Mortal Kombat games. Mortal Kombat 1 wouldn’t be complete without it. This fatality is all you need to know about Shang Tsung as a character since it pretty much summarizes the kind of person he is in the Mortal Kombat story.

This is the only fatality in the game that is somewhat adorable. Shang Tsung straight-up cuts the opponent from the middle and then pours some kind of concoction in there that spawns a cute little serpent. The serpent proceeds to eat the opponent’s face as its first meal, which earns Shang Tsung a deliciously brutal fatality.

5Lui Kang (Double Dragon)

Beautifully Artistic And Brutally Savage

Another Lui Kang fatality that was even shown in the trailer for Mortal Kombat 1is Double Dragon. Although initially, it seems like a tame fatality compared with others on this list, the reason for it ranking so high is the fact that it was the first fatality we ever saw and set the standards for a good fatality in this game.

As mentioned before, Lui Kang is the God of Fire, and we see him summoning two fire dragons to subdue his opponent till Lui Kang jumps up and smashes his opponent’s head so hard that it continues screaming even after their lungs are long gone. The sound effects for this fatality really enhance the experience as you feel the impact of flesh and blood as Lui Kang does his thing.

4Shujinko’s Five-Point Strike (Kameo Fatality)

Pai Mei’s Influence Spans Across Franchises

Shujinko is a character from the 3D era of Mortal Kombat games and, though he’s not very well known, is very nostalgic for Mortal Kombat Deception players. In this game, he’s given a vague introduction in Kung Lao’s arcade ending, which is canon, and shows up as an old man in the Kameo fighter selection.

Mortal Kombat 1: 10 Best Kameos, Ranked

Kameo fighters are just one of Mortal Kombat 1’s newest features.

Though his Kameo abilities are difficult and hard to master, Shujinko’s fatality is one of the best in the game. The fatality is Pai Mei’s five-point exploding heart technique adapted from Tarantino’s Kill Bill. It doesn’t shine as particularly brutal, but from a pure martial arts perspective, it’s very refreshing to see Shujinko pull off this five-point strike.

3Baraka’s Second Fatality

Baraka Is A Great Leader

Baraka’s first fatality is one of the worst in the gameand really makes you question the most you can do with two blades coming out of your arms. But with Baraka’s second fatality, you see how twisted and imaginative the folks at Netherrealm studios are, with how brutal they made this one.

Baraka first rips out the intestines of his opponent before grabbing them by the entrails and then hanging them over a flame to cook. It doesn’t end there. Other Tarkatans show up out of nowhere and rip off the opponent’s limbs before they even have time to cook properly. This shows Baraka’s leadership quality, providing his people with food when no one else could.

2Omni Man’s Train Fatality

Omni Man is one of the Kombat Pack charactersand the most Mortal Kombat character that isn’t part of the main universe. In other words, he fits in perfectly with the rest of the cast and doesn’t go easy with his violence. Both his fatalities are references to Invincible, and the first one is a bit disappointing, but the train fatality is something else.

Just like in the show, Omni Man grabs his opponent by the head and rams them into an oncoming train, killing many people for the purpose of killing one. In the show, he does this to prove a point. In the game, his purpose is to kill his opponent.

1Geras’s Second Fatality

An Infinite Death Loop Disguised As A Fatality

Perhaps the best, most unique, and most creative fatality on this list is none other than Geras’s time loop. Geras already happens to be the most out-of-place character in Mortal Kombat 1 with time powers that rival the Elder Gods, and he makes full use of them with this fatality.

Geras initially opens a portal, grabs what appears to be his opponent’s head and spine, and smashes their face with it before handing it to them. The twist happens after mere moments of realization when suddenly a portal opens behind his opponent with Geras reaching out to grab their head and spine. Talk about overkill when Geras effectively traps his opponent in an infinite time loop fatality.
