Monster Hunter Wilds Cheese Nan Meal Has People Rushing To Get The Real Thing
The game’s cutscene features hunters sitting down to enjoy a meal in Kunafa Village. The meal features cheese naan, which is naan bread with melted cheese and originated in India or France (depending on who you ask).
Various Monster Hunter Wilds players have expressed their desire to eat the dish on social media thanks to the game (viaAutomaton).
The text accompanying the video states, “This scene in Monster Hunter made me think “I want to eat cheese naan,” and it was heartwarming to find that there are many people all over Japan thinking the same thing lol.”
One Nepalese restaurant in Tokyo, Salam Namaste, is quick to join the cheese naan craze by posting about it on social media and even directly acknowledging the game to boost its sales.
The tweet reads, “The cheese naan is too popular. Even though I had a lot of cheese, I started to run out so I had to go to the supermarket to buy more. Thank you, Monster Hunter!”
In terms of the meal featured in the game, Monster Hunter Wilds' art director Kaname Fujioka revealed in aninterviewthis cheese naan scene was “the first thing we made,” and explained how it took a lot of effort to make the game’s depiction of food look good. I do admit that the scene made me crave it a little, and Capcom did an awesome job in making that food look delicious.
Is this cheese naan craze happening outside of Japan as well? I wouldn’t be surprised if it is.
