Fishing Spots
Weirdly, you can fish in any puddle you’d like, but you’ll need to find the right spots in every area to gather the exact fish you might be looking for. Every location in the game has at least one fishing spot, so no matter where you are, you’ll be able to cast a line.
You’re able to collect some fish with the capture net if you manage to get close enough. If you prefer that method, check out some of the shallower water where you may see fish swimming.

You can fish in any location that has something to catch. Look at the water and if you see shadows of fish then you can cast a line.

While they don’t have many rewards, what the fish in Monster Hunter Wilds have to offer is still pretty good. You can acquire some helpful items for crafting, rations for meals, and Guild Points.
Fish aren’t very difficult to catch, but depending on their size, they may put up more of a fight. The size will also determine how much of the rewards you acquire from that fish.

For all the achievement hunters out there, you have three to earn—one for fishing for the first time, one for catching a giant squid, and one for reeling in 30 whoppers.
Some fish will drop things like scales that can be used in crafting, or they may drop something likeWhetfish Finto make sharpening your weapon faster.

It can be helpful to stop off at fishing spots occasionally to keep a good stock of these items. If you’re out on a hunt and feel lucky, you’re able to grab items that you might need for an upcoming fight, likeSushifish Scalefor a fight with an Guardian Ebony Odogaron to minimize bleeding.
If you’re looking for something more specific, check out thisresource here. That should provide you with a nice list of all the possible items that different kinds of Aquatic Life can drop in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Hunting down the Gastronome Tuna will be the best source of items since it has so many on offer.
Food is always important in Monster Hunter games, but in Wilds, it’s one of themostimportant aspects. Fish makes for an excellent and easy source of ingredients which are the basis of what makes up your meals whenever you cook using your Portable BBQ Grill.
Having plenty of fish to cook will help keep your defense up. In a game like Monster Hunter, that small boost could be what prevents you from getting carted right at the end of a hunt.
Guild Points
Guild points are not something I think most people consider since you build up so many during a playthrough. That being said, having more never hurts!
Since points go to all manner of things, includingPop-up Camps, having a stock of them is a good idea. Each fish you catch will be worth at least five guild points, but other rarer or larger fish might be worth a lot more.
Fishing may not be the most interesting thing to tackle in Monster Hunter, but it’s something that everyone should at least try. Take a break from practicing extinction and enjoy the majesty of the game in all its glory.
It makes for anice cozy timeto just chill out and catch some fish instead of hunting for the next pair of gloves you need. Remember. you should never hunt on an empty stomach, and fish makes for a tasty snack between hunts.
