Megaton-Kyuu Musashi, which translates toMegaton-Class Musashi, was first announced by Level-5in July 2016and was supposed to launch in 2017. However, similarly toYo-kai Watch 4or the nextInazuma Elevengame, it was delayed more times than you can count.Level-5 president Akihiro Hino explainedin 2019 the company was completely overhauling itself to avoid ever running into these problems again.
It’s also important to noteMegaton-Class Musashiis a cross-media project. Also called media-mix or trans-media, this refers to franchises where a game, anime, manga, toys, stage plays, musicals, and several projects are planned and launched simultaneously. The concept of cross-media was most notably popularized by Sega withSakura Taisen.

Overall,Megaton Musashiis an action game with RPG, mecha customization elements, and co-op. The last time we had some details on the game was in December 2019. It’s interesting to note that back then the game was re-announced for PS4, Switch, iOS, and Android. In other words, the mobile versions have now been canceled. With the release ofMegaton-Class Musashifinally confirmed, it looks like Level-5 is slowly getting back to its feet. The latestYo-kai Watchgame,Yo-Kai Gakuen, didn’t seem to make a lot of noise in Japan. However,Ni No Kuni: Cross Worldsseems to be pretty popular and nowMegaton Musashimakes me quite hopeful for the future. I don’t believeInazuma Eleven Heroes' Great Roadwill get again delayed from its 2023 release, and I’m particularly eager to try outMegaton Musashi. Hopefully, everything will be alright for Level-5 now.
