Armored All Might is Clearly Inspired by Marvel’sIron Man

All Might makes an earth-shattering (not literal) appearance in the finale ofMy Hero Academiaseason 7. As one of the most iconic heroes of the franchise, All Might’s comeback was highly praised by fans. But another element that stole attention was Armored All Might, as the hero wore a mechanical suitdesigned to fight against All For One.

The Armored All Might isa clear reference to Kohei Horikoshi’s love for Western comics. While the previous red, white and blue costume of All Might was often compared to Captain America or Superman, Armored All Might seems inspired by Iron Man’s suit. The armor is similar to Tony Stark’s suit, especially due to the way it deploys. In fact, it even features a user interface like Stark’s Jarvis. This has led many fans to refer to the character as Iron Might.

Armored All Might is comprised of several robotic pieces that can be detached and re-applied. Additionally, it shares a connection to his car, Hercules, which reminds fans of Batman and his supercar, Batmobile. All Might had spent his entire fortune on the development of this suit. In a beloved homage, each of the tools, gadgets, and weapons of the suit are inspired by and named after the students of Class 1-A.

Does All Might and Deku’s Armors Ruin Quirks inMy Hero Academia?

Armored All Might does not possess any Quirks; instead, the power of many Quirks from Class 1-A have been copied to create the incredible tools and gadgets of the armor. In fact, the data obtained from Armored All Might’s battle with All For One is later utilized to develop a new suit. This is the samesuit that was later gifted by All Might to Deku in the final chapter ofMy Hero Academia.

But one question remains, does the superior technology of armored suits defeat the purpose of Quirks inMy Hero Academia? A suit that mimics or copies the Quirks of others means that anyone can become a superhero. Of course, a lot of dedication and the need to protect others is required, but it seems to overturn the very basis ofMy Hero Academia.

Of course, Deku was born quirkless and then acquired a Quirk which he had to struggle to develop and master. But he still depended on a Quirk rather than a suit. But if these mecha suits are mass-produced and distributed, even those with weaker or no quirks could become heroes. Maybe it is ultimately a way to squash the differences between people in the series, and no one would have to face discrimination like Deku in the future.
