One ofMagic: The Gathering’smost infamous memetic monsters is transcending space itself, as part of a hilarious new card that’s coming to theEdge of Eternities set.
The Lhurgoyf is a creature from Ice Age, one of theoldest Magic: The Gathering sets. It’s a bizarre-looking beast, but the reason it became famous was due to its flavour text, which says, “Ach! Hans, run! It’s the lhurgoyf.” These are the last words of Saffi Eriskdotter, and they quickly became the most famous flavour text in the history of the game.

Sonic The Hedgehog Is Magic: The Gathering’s Next Gaming Crossover
Sonic the Hedgehog characters and cards will be featured in an upcoming Magic: The Gathering crossover, as part of a future Secret Lairs drop.
There have been a lot of Lhurgoyf derivatives over the years, and the upcoming Edge of Eternities set is about to add the grandest one of them all. Wizards of the Coast revealed the mighty Cosmogoyf during a special preview event, which is a beast composed of reality itself.

What Is The Cosmogoyf
The regular Lhurgoyf costs four mana (two green, two of any color) andhas a mechanicwhere its Power and Toughness are equal to the number of all creatures in all players' graveyards plus 1, which actually makes it a frightening creature in certain decks.
The Cosmogoyf is cheaper, costing only a single black and green mana to summon. Its effect states that its Power and Toughness are equal to the number of all creatures that its owner has in exile, plus 1. Its flavor text also references the iconic Lhurgoyf card.

The Cosmogofy might be easier to summon, but its effect can be trickier to use. Fortunately, the new Warp mechanic in Edge of Eternities lets players put creatures into exile, which can boost the Cosmogoyf as needed. Players won’t be waiting long to unleash the Cosmogoyf on their foes, asEdge of Eternities launcheson August 07, 2025.
