However, there is one genre that fans haven’t seen him very frequently; rom-coms. The actor has visited the genre in the past, but he never stayed for long. While he has been very vocal about wanting to bring back his iconic series,Hannibal, the same cannot be said about this.

During an interview, Mikkelsen revealed exactly why this was the case, and his reasoning made a lot of sense.

Mads Mikkelsen and Romantic Comedies

Over the years,Mads Mikkelsenhas gained somewhat of a reputation for his skills as a villain. Famously bringing life to some of the most iconic antagonists out there, he has played anything from a Bond villain to one forMufasa: The Lion King. While rugged and scheming villains are his specialty, audiences have yet to see him simply be a love interest, and as much as fans would like to disagree,Hannibaldoes not fall in the category of a rom-com.

During an interview with theCollider, Mikkelsen was asked if he was ever interested in starring in a romantic comedy. The actor started by revealing that he had been a part of a rom-com in the past, titledShake It All About. While the film was certainly outside the bounds of convention, much like most of his works, the actor still believes it to be the closest thing to a film in the genre.

You can download a film I did, very early in my career, calledShake It All About(En Kort En Lang). That is a rom-com. It’s a little twisted rom-com, but it’s quite cute. I was very young, so everything is cute about it.

However, when asked if he would be interested in making something similar to the 2001 film, the actor had quite a straight answer. He revealed that he had quite a dark sense of humor, which made it difficult for him to star in something simpler.

My sense of humor is dark, Anders Thomas Jensen sarcastic humor. I think my rom-com days are gone. Unless you want it to be in a nursery home. We’ll see about that.

Joking that those days had passed him by, the actor revealed that he does not think that he would be starting in a romantic film anytime soon.

Mads Mikkelsen Wants To Bring BackHannibal

While Mads Mikkelsen has made up his mind about not visiting theShake It All Aboutchapter of his life, he has been very adamant about coming back to the role of Hannibal Lecter. While there are several examples of him talking about coming back to the role, one interview withBloody Disgustingsums up how the actor and the entire cast of the series feel.

When NBC’sHannibalended, it was not at an abrupt halt, but the series did end with the most literal cliffhanger possible. Although fans have tried to make their piece with it time and time again, the knowledge that the series was supposed to go on for much longer and the show was supposed to cover all of the books does not help them find peace.

I haven’t heard anything specific. I know Bryan is still working on some ideas where we can find a new home for this. I also have a strong feeling that everybody who was involved in it would gladly pick up the glove again if that happens.

During the interview, the actor mentioned that the showrunner, Bryan Fuller, has been trying to find a way to make the series happen in some way or another. It is safe to say that fans are fighting tooth and nail for its renewal, and they are glad to know that the cast and crew are doing the same.
