Lily-Rose Depp has certainly been turning heads after her recent appearance inNosferatu. Being the daughter of Johnny Depp, many questioned her talent and wondered if she was just another product of nepotism. However, the film has become another example of her talent, being much more than just a successful actor’s daughter.

While Depp has gotten an opportunity to prove her talents, many have wondered how she managed to score an audition for the critically acclaimed project. During an interview, the director of the project, Robert Eggers, revealed the story behind it and it would seem that she did have an advantage, but not in the way many would think.
Lily-Rose Depp did not need any connections to be cast inNosferatu
Lily-Rose Depphas plenty of past projects to showcase her talent as an actress. AlthoughThe Idolis not the best example of her skills, considering how horribly it performed, many have pointed out that the show’s only redeeming quality was Depp’s performance. With this in mind, it is safe to say that the actress has been itching for something where she can showcase the full extent of her abilities.
AlthoughNosferatuhas just been released, the film seems to be doing exactly this for her, as her skills stand front and center in the horror film of the year. Considering this, one cannot help but wonder how she ended up getting the role of Ellen Hutter in the project.

“I could feel his prosthetic p*nis”: Nicholas Hoult Will Now Forever Remember His ‘Nosferatu’ Experience After Robert Eggers’ Gift
In an interview withVariety, Robert Eggers was asked exactly this, and the background is quite interesting. Regarding her background, many would assume that her father’s connections helped her get the role. However, she is far too talented to have to take such routes.
I’d met with her because I’d seen some work that she’d done that I thought was quite strong, but she had never carried a film.

Eggers revealed he was already considering Depp for the role of Ellen before she even auditioned. The reason for it was because he had seen her past films and knew that she was very talented. He had yet to see her front and center in a film and wanted to give her the opportunity to do so.
Lily-Rose Depp still had to meet Robert Eggers and audition to get the part
Even thoughRobert Eggerswas very impressed by Lily-Rose Depp’s acting in her past projects, it was not enough for him to hire her for the role of Ellen Hutter inNosferatu. The director revealed that it wasn’t until he met her that he was fully convinced she would be the right person for the role.
As soon as I met with her, I was pretty certain she could do the job because she understood the character. I said to her, “I would like to cast you in this role, but you need to audition anyway. So let’s make sure you nail the audition.” So we prepped a bit for the audition, but she knew what she was doing.

Eggers confessed it was Depp’s understanding of her character that sold him. He knew that she could do justice to Ellen and told her so. However, he still was not going to give her the part until she auditioned. In fact, he helped her prepare for her audition for some time so that she was able to get it right.
While the help must have certainly aided her understanding of the character, Eggers revealed an interesting piece of information about the same. He stated that Depp’s audition was excellent in every way possible, so much so that she ended up giving a performance similar to the one she gave in the film.

It is safe to say that even though some strings must have been pulled to bring the actress to where she is today, she certainly deserves it.
