12 Best Yakuza Final Boss Fights, Ranked
From sworn brothers to men who have nothing to lose, here are the best final boss fights in the Yakuza series so far.
The Goromaru can be upgraded to make it stronger, and with new weapons if you want to be victorious against stronger foes or take down those pesky Devil Flags fleet easily.

To help you get up to speed with how everything works regarding it, I’ve prepared a guide on how to upgrade your ship and unlock more upgrades for it.
How To Upgrade Your Ship
The option to upgrade your ship becomes available in Chapter 2,relatively after you’ve invested in the new and overhauled version of the Goromaru, which can then be equipped with new equipment and upgrades.
Regarding the latter, they’re introduced to you via thePerformance Upgrades, which can be used from the Disembark optionwhenever you’re in a safe zone of the mainland zones or the Lighthouses out in the sea.

They cost money and have different levels, with the highest one belonging to Durability, which has separate tiers going from Plus, Extreme, to Kiwami.
If you’re going for the Platinum Trophy and want to take on the toughest enemy ships, you’ll need all of them, from more Fuel Tank charges to increasing your Smoke Screen uses to shield during the heat of battle.

Start with the Boarding Crewsince it only needs three investments. Then, focus on the Fuel Tank and increase the ship’s Durability, which is necessary to mitigate damage from enemy broadsides.
The most important upgrade is obviously the Durability, since it’ll affect how much damage you can withstand.

How To Customize Your Ship
The option to customize your ship is also conveniently under the Performance Upgrades and Equipment sectionsof the Prepare to Sail menu as Change Appearance.
Just like you’re able to personalize Majima with his own threads, the Goromaru can also be outfitted with cosmetic features, such as custom Sails, a Hull pattern, and a front-and-centre figure like either Kiryu’s or Ichiban’s.
Most of these customization items can be bought from various stores or mini-game vendorsthroughout the world. Some are purchasable DLC belonging to the Deluxe edition of the game.
How To Unlock More Equipment & Upgrades
The Goromaru’s equipment comprises your two cannons on the main deck with your front machine gun and a rocket launcher that Majima can manually use amidst naval battles away from piloting the ship for some extra damage.
Most weaponry, such as your basic cannons, has its upgrades listed in the Equipment section. If you require new equipment and its upgraded variants, you’ll need to visit Julie’s Gearworks shop in Hawaii.
In addition to finding Equipment crafting materials during exploration, you can also buy them from merchants who sail near Lighthouses.
Julie is responsible for giving you access to them if you provide her with enough materials to craft each piece of equipment. Most of them are craftable and common materials, while some may require some rarer ones.
Start with the Laser Cannons. They’re great, especially their upgraded variants, which have a longer range and can cover gaps quickly.
The Shark Cannon is also a good pairing if you may get the upgraded variant thatshoots two shots and helps freeze enemy ships.
