Sparing Black Cat
When you come across Black Cat for the last time inChapter 10 in Arche Abbey, he will explain his reasoning for his actions and kidnapping Geppetto. He will once again ask you for aGold Coin Fruit,and you’ll have to decide between giving him one or starting a battle.
If you choose to give him the Gold Coin Fruit, then you’ll end the conflict here, andyou won’t need to fight him or Red Fox.You will still receive theBlack Cat Maskas a reward, though you will not receive any Ergo. We recommend choosing this option to keep the story moving, as you will also need to fight Red Fox afterward if you choose to fight Black Cat. But, if you’re choosing to go down the path of no mercy, then we will show you how you can defeat Black Cat in battle as well.

Fighting Black Cat
As a human, Black Cat will be easier to take on if you have theMurderer Puppet’s Amuletequipped, which allows you todeal increased damage on human enemies.You can find this Amulet near theKrat Central Station Platform Stargazer.
Black Cat is quite easy to take on as a mini-boss, especially since he will come equipped with a weak spear weapon. This weapon will be able to reach pretty far, however, so you should bring along theAegis Legion Armas extra protection.
ThePuppet Ripperweapon will be a great weapon to use on him, since it also can deal damage from a distance. This will allow you to not get too close to him, while still dealing heavy damage. Since he isn’t that powerful, however, you may use just about any weapon, but it’s best to choose one that’sa little bit lighter since Black Cat is relatively fast.Also,he will often stagger, so use this to your advantage and hit him with a charged attack to bring him down.
As for throwing weapons, you can useAcid Canisters or bring along an Acid Grindstoneto give your weapon Acid Attack. With all of this in-hand, you should have no trouble finishing off Black Cat. As long as you come prepared with the right items and enough Pulse Cells, you’ll be good to go.
