The beloved romance anime and manga series known as “Kimi no Todoke” or “From Me to You” has been given the green light for a long-awaited third season to be released in 2024. The last time we heard about the work was in 2011, when the final episode of season two aired. The third season was officially announced viaNetflix Japan’s Twitter account.

A translation of the announcemnt tweet reads:

“After 12 years, a sequel anime has been announced

Netflix series ‘#KimiNiTodoke 3RD SEASON’

“How should I make this relationship work?”

A new relationship between Sawako and Kazehaya. The bittersweet and heartrending tale of youth begins once again…..

Another noteworthy tidbit in the same announcement is the return of the original voice actors. Voice actress Mamiko Noko will return to reprise her role as Sawako Kuronuma, and voice actor Daisuke Namikawa will also reprise his role as Kazehaya Shouta.

Mamiko Noko is known for her sweet and melodious voice, which was able to clearly convey Sawako’s character development from a shy, introverted girl to a more confident and sincere one. As for Daisuke Namikawa, he’s known for his warm, friendly, and soothing voice, which were the qualities that helped Sawako fall in love with his character, Kazehaya, and learn more about her inner strength in the process.

The two old Kimi no Todoke seasons covered about 11 volumes of the manga and ended around chapter 45 and 46 with 38 episodes. The manga itself has 30 volumes and 123 chapters. This means that more than half of the story has not yet been adapted into an anime. According to those who have read the manga, the relationship between the main couple has just begun around where the anime ended, and they would still go through many trials and tribulations on their way to making this new relationship work.

Also not many may be aware of this, but Kimi no Todoke has received a live action TV drama adaption, which premiered on March 30th this year. And this live action series captures a bit more of what wasn’t adapted in the manga, so fans who are interested in knowing about the later events of the story (especially what happens in the final chapters) might want to check out the live action show until season 3 of the anime arrives in 2024.
