Delays can be disappointing, but sometimes, they’re exactly what a game needs.

Tripwire Interactive announced in a post on X that the upcoming sci-fi zombie-killing first-person shooter Killing Floor 3 is being delayed from its original plan for a March 25 release to an “undecided date” later in 2025, with “full support” from Embracer Group, their parent company.

The delay is intended to give them an opportunity to fix a wide variety of issues encountered by players during the game’s closed beta, which ran from February 20-24.

How About That Closed Beta?

The first sign that all was not well after the Killing Floor 3 beta came in anX postshortly after the beta ended, where Tripwire stated that they were canceling a livestream originally scheduled for February 27 in order to do a “deep dive” into how they could improve the game and to build a “detailed action plan” to address the issues.

It seems like this delay is what they settled on.

Some issues they plan to address include performance and stability, UI and UX, lighting, and weapon feel. They go on to say they aren’t sure which problems they’ll be able to fix by launch, but they also state that they plan to have a post-launch update to allow for independent selection for players’ perk class and character.

The post on X announcing the delay seems to have received wide support from the community, with most of the replies expressing their hopes that this delay will lead to an improved experiencecompared to the lackluster beta.

The previousKilling Floorgames, the most recent of which released back in 2016, have a pedigree for exciting, fast-paced class-based co-op gameplay, andKilling Floor 2received continuous support from Tripwire Interactive for years following its initial release.

Hopefully, they’ll be able to reach that level with Killing Floor 3 as well, but they need to get the game up to a solid foundation before they can do that, so hopefully this delay will give them the time they need to make it live up to the standard set by the previous games.
