The rom-com genre has been declining lately in certain aspects of it, and Kate Hudson seems to have found a way to help save it. For one who is often referred to as the‘Rom-Com Queen’having starred mostly, if notonly, in romantic comedies throughout her sparking career, the actress has seemingly pinpointed the very thing that is forcing the decline of the genre.

And to bring that change into effect by eliminating the very thing leading to the descent, the 44-year-old Oscar-nominated actress had a serious demand from Marvel stars when she recently reminisced her 2003 hit rom-com with Matthew McConaughey while appearing onThe Viewpanel: To cross over to the romantic comedy genre!

It was during this very event that she shared what has been making the audiences resonate with the rom-com movie ever since its release, as compared to the films of this generation which have seemingly taken the genre to a gradual decline.

Crediting most of the success to the writers of the film and the cast that includedMatthew McConaughey, Hudson said:

“I think there’s a sort of misconception that a rom-com is supposed to have a certain formula — which it does; there is a formula that works. But it does also start with the writer… and a great cast.”

Continuing, she pinpointed the very thing that has been leading to the gradual decline of audience approval for rom-com movies like her own 20-year-old masterpiece.

“It’s hard to get male movie stars to make rom-coms,” Hudson said. “That’s a big part of the equation, to have that event.”

She then mentioned how a certain genre has been diminishing the chances of more actors stepping into the genre, all the while emphasizing her demand from the Marvel actors and their necessity to step into the genre for the same, saying:

“So, as long as we can get more Marvel guys to like … hey, come to do a rom-com! I think that that’s a big part of the formula, too.”

Well, it’s not likeKate Hudsonis wrong — the Marvel Cinematic Universe is, most certainly, pulling all the actors it can inside!

Kate Hudson Pinpoints The Reason Most Actors Don’t Make It To Rom-Coms

During the same episode of sharing her thoughts withThe Viewpanelists, Kate Hudson then clarified what she felt was the very reason why most actors, including Marvel stars, don’t make it to rom-coms. She said:

“I think it’s about the writing and how we’re investing and telling the story. The writing and the directors, you know.”

Further elaborating her statement, theAlmost Famousactress explained:

“If you look at the classic rom-coms or movies that last forever — because they do, they’re the ones that last forever, people go back and back [to them] — they have the best writers and great directors. So I think it’s more about how the studios are investing in the talents.”

Thus, to make a romantic comedy more successful, two elements are more necessary than others, as per Kate Hudson: include Marvel stars, and have great writers and directors. Noted!
