One ofFinal Fantasy’smost comedic joke monsters has been turned into possibly the strongestMagic: The Gatheringcreature in the game’s history, thanks to how it adapts a long-running numerical video game limit.
In theold Final Fantasy games, it was common for the maximum damage and hit point value to be 9999. This was due to the strict hardware and memory limitations of the time, but the numbers became so iconic that they keep appearing, though sometimes they’re boosted to 99999 or even higher.

Magic: The Gathering To Add New Card From Manga Artist Junji Ito
Phyrexia just got even creepier.
A new video on the official Magic: The Gathering YouTube channel has revealed some of the cards in the upcoming Final Fantasy crossover set. One of these isthe Jumbo Cactuar, which comes with a shocking ability.
Jumbo Cactuar Might Be Magic: The Gathering’s Deadliest Creature
Jumbo Cactuar is a creature that requires seven mana (two green, five other) to summon. It has poor stats for that summoning cost, as it brings a 1/7 to the field, which means it’s a good defender, but doesn’t bring much offense.
That is, except for its 10,000 Needles ability, which gives Jumbo Cactuar 9999/0 to its stats whenever it attacks.

If Jumbo Cactuar is given Trample, then it will instantly win a game, as players cannot tank that kind of hit without some kind of infinite combo to protect themselves.
Magic: The Gathering Live-Action Movie & TV Shows On The Way
A Magic: The Gathering movie and TV series is being developed by Legendary Entertainment.
Jumbo Cactuar is such apowerful creaturethat decks will need to find ways to get rid of it, either through bouncing it back to the hand, instant death effects, or anything that stuns it. Regardless, anyone facing agreen Final Fantasy playerwill need to get an anti-plant weapon in their hand as quickly as possible.

Chances are, the Jumbo Cactuar will be restricted in many formats when it comes out, due to the myriad ways it can quickly end a game. It will at least be fun to unleash it inFinal Fantasy-themed matches.
