While it was true for others, nobody would have imagined, Joaquin Phoenix’sJoker 2in this regard. The movie featured a stunning ensemble with Lady Gaga working alongside Phoenix and was directed by filmmaker Tod Phillips.
But if recent reports are to be believed, it comes nowhere near 2019’sJoker, which was not only a huge commercial success. But it also bagged Phoenix his first Academy Award. This has created huge issues for Warner Bros. as well who are already having a bad year with a string of commercially failed projects.

But the sequel seems to have strayed from this important aspect. This led to the movie opening with $37.7 million. While this might seem like a huge amount to some, it actually nothing when compared to the original which earned $1.1 billion.
This has further broughtWarner Bros. under huge pressure. As they will have to answer why they invested $200 million in a movie that doesn’t even cater to what the public wanted in the first place. With such a staggering budget,Joker 2needs to earn at least $450 million to break even. Something that seems highly unlikely at the moment.
