J.K. Simmons has worked on many kinds of projects over the years. Being the definition of a well-rounded actor, he has done everything from Marvel to Oscar-winning works, playing Santa Claus and even voice acting Omni-Man. There is no denying that few know the film industry as well as he does, having explored all that it has to offer.

With this, it is not surprising that the actor is set to star in Clint Eastwood’s recently released film,Juror No. 2. However, during a recent interview, Simmons confessed that he was advised not to take the role by his agent, and he shut that down very quickly.
Bad Advice From a Professional Advisor?
Clint Eastwoodhas been sitting at the very top of Hollywood for decades now. From directing to acting and even producing, he has been responsible for multiple Oscar-winning projects and has single-handedly contributed to the film industry in more ways than one. Considering how much respect and influence he holds in the industry, actors dream of getting an opportunity to work with him.

With this in mind, it is not surprising that someone as successful asJ.K. Simmonswould be interested in being a part of one of his films. However, it would seem that he was almost not going to join the cast of the project, simply because of a piece of advice that his agent gave him. During a recent interview withCollider, the actor spoke about his upcoming film,Juror No. 2, where he confessed that he was almost not a part of it.
It was fantastic. When my wonderful agent sent it to me, he was like, ‘Eh, it’s not a great part, probably a pass.’

The actor does not play a very big role in the project, and there are many significant characters that come before his own. With this, many who are as successful as Simmons would not take the role, focusing their attention on bigger roles. He was put on a similar path by his agent, who had advised him against taking the project. However, he missed out on a very big detail—the film was an Eastwood project.
J.K. Simmons Knew Better
Despite his agent’s advice, J.K. Simmons decided to get into the script ofJuror No. 2with an open mind and it is safe to say that many would be glad of his decision. Upon reading the script, he realized that his role was good enough that he was interested in being a part of the project.
Additionally, he pointed out that he would not be foolish enough to reject a film by Clint Eastwood. Since the director is considered to be Hollywood royalty and has made one of the biggest impacts on the industry, it is not surprising that Simmons would feel this way.

I read it, and it’s a very nice medium-small, little supporting part in it, but I was like, ‘Are you kidding me? It’s a Clint Eastwood movie. Am I gonna not do a movie with Clint Eastwood?’”

Juror No. 2stars both Eastwood and Simmons and follows the story of a juror who is taking part in a high-profile murder case. It showcases moral dilemmas and has some seriously complex themes, helping it gain high ratings and acclaim, much like most of Eastwood’s projects.
Juror No. 2is available in theaters.
