It took Eddie Murphy almost three decades to return to his most iconic role, Axel Foley. But he described filmingBeverly Hills Cop 4as difficult. Why? The actor says he’s not in his 20s anymore, and that’s why it was definitely a “tough one” for him.
The firstBeverly Hills Copmovie was released in 1984, and at that time, Murphy was 23 years old. But now, as he’s returned to play Foley, he’s 62. Anyway, it’s not only him who’s doing action scenes in his 60s. Tom Cruise is 61 but still prefers to do his own action sequences for which he should be praised.

Eddie Murphy Struggles with Action Sequences, Whereas Tom Cruise Still Believes in Doing His Own Stunts
In an interview withPeople, Eddie Murphy talked about the uphill battles he had to face while doing the action sequences in the fourth installment ofBeverly Hills Cop. The Hollywood actor said:
“It was a hard one. I did Axel Foley when I was in my 20s. I am not in my 20s anymore. It was an action movie. So it was a rough one. But we got through it.”
Murphy added,
“It’s a really physical movie, and I had to do some physical stuff…. I like to be on the couch, I don’t like to be jumping over and shooting and running.”
The star said that he had to do some serious“jumping and shooting and running.”And as a result… at the end of the movie, he had a“knee brace,”and his“back is messed up.”But he assured that“the movie is gonna be special.”
It’s understandable that at his age, it’s a little difficult to go on doing action segments. But this would make fans appreciateTom Cruisemore because even in his 60s, the actor has no desire to stop.
TheMission: Impossiblestar still believes in doing his own stunts. And even in the latest installment ofM:I, the actor did some death-defying stunts like driving a motorbike off a cliff, flying off the bike, and parachuting to the ground.

When isBeverly Hills Cop 4Releasing?
After 1984,Eddie Murphyreprised his iconic role in 1987’sBeverly Hills Cop IIand 1994’sBeverly Hills Cop III. The fourth film has been in the works for several years.
As of right now,Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foleydoes not have an official release date. The teaser poster for the film reveals that this new sequel will hit Netflix sometime in the summer of 2024 (almost a full 40 years after the original hit theaters). But an exact date has not been revealed yet.
