Chris Evans is known for his time as Steve Rogers / Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. During his tenure as the star-spangled hero, Evans got an opportunity to work with legendary actor Robert Redford, who had a supporting role in the second installment of theCaptain Americafranchise.

In an interview, Evans spoke about sharing the screen with Redford and also revealed his admiration for the veteran actor. Evans praised Redford for his attitude and work ethic on the sets ofCaptain America: The Winter Soldier. In 2013, actorChris Evanswas approaching the peak of his popularity as Captain America, after starring inCaptain America: The First Avenger(2011) andThe Avengers(2012). At the time, Evans was working on the then-upcomingCaptain America: The Winter Soldier.

During an appearance onThe Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Evans was asked about the film and revealed that Hollywood legend Robert Redford would be appearing in it. Redford appeared in the film as Alexander Pierce, a senior official of S.H.I.E.L.D.

“He’s unbelievable, he’s amazing. I mean, he’s Robert Redford–he’s an icon!”

Evans made the above statement (viaComicbook.com), admitting his admiration for Redford and his work in the 1972 filmJeremiah Johnson. Evans added that the Redford-led film was important to him growing up. As a result, he was initially worried about meeting the veteran actor.

Evans also stated that he had a fantastic working experience with Redford, having admired his work as an actor and director. The Captain America actor admitted that meeting people of Redford’s stature can sometimes be depressing but that wasn’t the case with the veteran actor.

Redford also has an Academy Award and two Golden Globes to his name. During a 2013 interview with theLA Times, Redford explained why he agreed to star inCaptain America: The Winter Soldier.
