From Marvel cameos to Wade Wilson breaking the fourth wall, and Wolverine dropping F-bombs, the second trailer had something for everyone, with more fans now joining the threequel hypetrain. The new trailer forDeadpool & Wolverinealso gave us a proper glimpse of Hugh Jackman’s Logan in his classic yellow spandex, who looks better than ever as Wolverine.

But despite a plethora of references, there was no sign of Dafne Keen’s X-23 fromLoganin the trailer. However, per Insider, not only will she be incorporated into the story, but she’ll reportedly be the one to break the news of her Wolverine’s sacrifice to this variant.
Deadpool 3Is Reportedly Taking theEndgameRoute by Bringing back Dafne Keen
One major problem that some fans had with Wolverine’s return to the MCU was the ending ofLogan, which gave a deserved send-off to the most beloved member of the X-Men. But from the trailer, it’s evident MCU is not interfering with the iconic ending, instead, we’ll follow a new variant, who apparently blames himself for not being able to save his universe.

However, it seems the MCU might not completely downplay the impact ofLogan, as per insider@CanWeGetToast, X-23 will reportedly break the story of her Wolverine’s sacrifice to this variant.
If it turns out to be the case, this will be similar to the route the MCU opted for Gamora inEndgame, whose previous self was notified of her future self’s sacrifice inInfinity War.

Definitely a different universe. All the X-Men died and introduces X-23 as the new Wolverine. Like pre-Old man Logan timeline but with teenager Laura.

Moreover, considering how heavy the ending ofLoganwas, Dafne Keen’s X-23 breaking her story to this Wolverine will definitely make for a strong moment. This could also serve as a catalyst in this Wolverine’s journey, as knowing about the other variant’s sacrifice might finally push him to get over his past failure and step up to save the multiverse.

Considering Brown had earned universal acclaim following her work inStranger Things, which debuted a year prior toLogan, she tuned in to audition in front ofHugh Jackmanand James Mangold. While she failed to earn the gig, theEnola Holmesstar described her audition for the film as her best to date.
She recalled (viaVariety‘s Actor on Actors):
“I was like, ‘It’s going to be amazing, I’m going to really prepare,’ and I sat in my room reading the lines,” she said. “Honestly, for me, I felt so — I felt an actor, in the audition room, hitting Hugh Jackman, and James Mangold sitting right in front of me.”
Following her portrayal of Eleven in the first season, it’s safe to assume she too would have made for a great X-23, but consideringhow great Keen turned out to be, things did turn out for the best.
