WWE is known for its captivating storylines and the twists and turns that happen as the road continues. This is headlined by shocking moments and surprise turns that happen at major WWE shows. However, the company is also known to plant early seeds for a dramatic change that can come in the future. Following the aftermath of the WWE Royal Rumble 2025, it seems a major change could be coming in the future.

This was witnessed in the high-profile ladder match for the Undisputed WWE Championship between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens. The match garnered huge reactions for its insane spots, physicality and jaw-dropping moments.
But seeing The American Nightmare aggression throughout the match and post match actions, it seems that a big change is coming for the current face of the global juggernaut.

Cody Rhodes could be heading towards becoming WWE’s own Homelander
At the 2025 Royal Rumble event, the heated rivalry betweenCody Rhodesand Kevin Owens came head-to-head in a physically tormenting ladder match with the Undisputed & Winged Eagle WWE title hanging above the ring. The match was a brutal sight that saw both men sustain multiple injuries.
However, the fans did notice Cody Rhodes being more aggressive than ever to put down The Prizefighter. Moreover, he countered KO’s last Piledriver attempt with a reversal drop, sending a bloodied Owens head first into the ladder which was a shocking sight.

This was a possible heelish behavior that Rhodes doesn’t display very often. Moreover, during their last match atWWESaturday Night’s Main Event, Cody Rhodes delivered the Cross Rhodes to Owens on a steel chair to pick up a controversial win.
This along with his Royal Rumble conduct could be signs of Rhodes potentially turning heel in the near future and becoming WWE’s own Homelander.

What could be the potential reason for WWE possibly planning a Cody Rhodes heel turn?
WWE planting early seeds for a possible Cody Rhodes heel turn could be for a major match at The Show of Shows this year, WrestleMania 41. As it is seen, the fans are voicing huge support forJohn Cenato win his 17th World Championship.
The Cenation Leader is looking to capture the title in the main event of WrestleMania 41, despite not winning the 2025 Royal Rumble match. Instead, he is now looking to win the Elimination Chamber match for that opportunity as part of hisfarewell Tour which has close to 30-40 dates.

This could be the potential reason for WWE looking to turn Rhodes on the road to WrestleMania. With Cena possibly winning the match and an earlier report hinting at WWE’s plans for this match at Mania, a Rhodes heel turn would make sense.
