Brandon Routh’s Superman was kind of forgettable as the movie failed to make a box-office splash despite the fairly well-received critical praise. The Bryan Singer-directed movie was pushed into oblivion after the first installment,Superman Returns, wasreleased in 2006.

Still, superhero movies must get the desired numbers at the box office to have room for sequels, and Routh’sSuperman Returnsfailed to meet that criteria. But one scene from the movie seems to have rekindled the essence of the flick among fans.

Brandon Routh As Superman

Brandon Routh‘s Superman, perhaps, did not resonate well among fans. Of course, the movie claimed approximately $391 million at the worldwide box office against a production budget of $232 million (perThe Numbers) and the gross was not quite great for the movie to land on a sequel.

The Bryan Singer-directed movie certainly had potential as the director was well-versed in the genre for hisX-Mentenure at 20th Century Fox. However, Warner Brothers has scrapped the project after the loss of faith. But there was always“the intention was to do a sequel”toSuperman Returns, Routh toldGeek House Showin a podcast.

“With a big tentpole movie like that. They want to make more as long as they feel like they’ve recouped the money that they invested into the film. At the end of the day, the studio, Warner Brothers, decided it was too much of a gamble for them to do a sequel. The creative entities, the writers and the directors were on to other things.

Certain people at the studio who were excited about Superman had left to go on to other projects at other studios. So, it was both the passion and the interest in Superman dissipated and the movie, I guess for them, didn’t bring back enough monetary success for them to pull the trigger on it,”he added.

The actor also revealed that he was open to the possibility of his return in the multiverse scenario. Now, with James Gunn claiming the head of the creative chair at DC Studios, it is unlikely that the actor would wear the Superman costume again.

Fans Hailed OneSuperman ReturnsScene

Superman Returnswas not devoid of its flaws, perhaps the most demanding of them was not being able to resonate with fans. But there are certain scenes in the movie that inherently deserve praise, and fans intend to honor that.

If the rest of this movie had lived up to the quality of this scene we would have gotten a half dozen sequels. It is just a pity that the potential this movie had was squandered with some poor decisions in the second half.

This one is my favorite along with Cavills Superman saving the residents by carrying the apartment building to safety in the canon DCEU Justice League movie.

Overall not a huge fan of the film, but the airplane rescue was epic. And him lifting a frigging ISLAND laced with KRYPTONITE and yeeting that sum’bitch into space might be the most awesome thing Superman has done on film ever.

Andnew reports of the actor revealed that he might be putting on his costume againfor a CW show based on Superman but the odds are seemingly slim as of yet as Gunn may not entertain the idea of another Superman ahead of his version of Superman hits the theaters.
