A Reddit user shared that they were playingMortal Kombat 4and were surprised to see that in one of the fighting stages, a log with a face resembling Ed Boon appeared.
Many other users began commenting similarly, noting that this isn’t the first time Boonhas appeared in the games, as it’s something he regularly does as a reference or Easter egg. The comments were filled with mentions of other games where players had spotted the creative director.

Boon Really Enjoyed Making This Easter Egg at the Time
One of the most well-known cameos, references, or Easter eggs involving Ed Boon dates back to the firstMortal Kombat, where he and other game creators appear in the background of The Pit scenario after the famous hook that sends the player to the blades.
After designing Reiko, Boon said his face inspired this fighter. Fans have always loved Boon for doing this kind of thing in his games.

Fortunately, the series is currently in a fantastic place, with recent titles achieving strong sales and continuing to build popularity for the franchise.

NetherRealm, the studio behind these titles, is actively developing a new game, which it has not yet revealed. Everyone is hoping it’s some sort of sequel toMortal Kombat 1, or many are eager to see the return ofInjusticeafter two spectacular games.
Meanwhile, Ed Boon continues to enjoy the success of this saga, which will have a live-action sequel and already has several well-received animated movies.
