Helldivers 2has beentheco-op game in 2024. This sequel to an old classic has found huge success since its release and has been a fan favorite for gaming with friends. As you’d expect from a co-op game as big as this, the game has crossplay between PS5 and PC.

But while the game supports crossplay between these two platforms, it has not been a smooth experience for many. Players have faced frustrating bugs and technical issues while trying to crossplay with friends. With cross-platform gaming becoming the norm, bugs like these can ruin what should be a seamless experience.
Helldivers 2‘s Crossplay Problem Still Needs Fixing Today
Helldivers 2’s crossplay is a seamless experience—when it works. The cross-platform feature is automatically enabled, letting players on PC and PS5 team up without manual setup. To play with friends, players can generate a friend code in the game’s social menu. Entering this code allows friends to send requests and join parties, making the system user-friendly.
Another drawback toHelldivers 2’s current crossplay systemis the lack of cross-progression and cross-save features. Players cannot carry their progress across platforms, meaning that if they switch from PS5 to PC (or vice versa), they’ll need to start from scratch.

While Arrowhead has hinted that cross-save functionality could be added in the future, no concrete timeline has been provided, leaving players hoping for these quality-of-life improvements.

The problem with the crossplay system is not its design but the bugs. The biggest bug has been players’ inability to send or accept friend requests across platforms. layers often find that their requests don’t go through or are not received, effectively blocking any cross-platform interaction.
The friend request bug is not the only issue. Even when players manage to add each other, they sometimes face problems joining the same lobbies. Whether it’s difficulty locating each other’s game sessions or failure to join, there have been multiple reports of such bugs as well.

There are some workarounds though, such as creating open lobbies and trying to join missions together. However, these solutions are temporary and don’t always work, especially when other random players interfere by joining the mission before the friend can.
It’s Been So Long Players Are Already Over It
Arrowhead Game Studios, the developer behindHelldivers 2, knows these crossplay issues and is actively working on solutions. A community manager previously confirmed that the bug preventing friend requests from being accepted across platforms has been reproduced in testing.

Despite the game being out for 8 months now, some of these bugs have still not been fixed completely. Some updates fixed these bugs only for them to come back with another update.Players have moved on at this pointthough.

Until Arrowhead hopefully fixes the crossplay issues, players can try several workarounds. Restarting the game, generating fresh friend codes, or repeatedly sending friend requests may temporarily resolve connection issues.
Helldivers 2is not the first game to struggle with crossplay, and it certainly won’t be the last. But in a game so reliant on cooperative play, these bugs feel particularly annoying.
