After months and months of waiting, the big moment is finally here as Sony and Microsoft prepare to launch their long-awaited next-gen consoles. TheXbox Series X and Series Swill officially make their debut tomorrow with thePS5coming later this week, and along with them comes the promise of years of new innovations and games to look forward to on the horizon.
Whether you’re planning to pick up one console or both, this week is obviously a huge one for fans of gaming around the world, especially with the release of tons of big new releases to coincide with the consoles' launches. This week alone we’re gettingÂAssassin’s Creed Valhalla,ÂYakuza: Like a Dragon,ÂDemon’s Souls,ÂMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales,ÂCall of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War, and so many more that cross the barrier between current and next-gen.
With the PS5 and new Xbox consoles coming this week, we of course want to ask theÂDualShockerscommunity:How are you celebrating the launch of the next-gen systems?Which console(s) are you getting? What games are you planning on playing first? How much PTO are you taking this week to play?Let us know in the comments below.
For me this week, I’m planning to spend a good amount of time digging into everything that the PS5 has to offer. Hopefully if everything goes well with my order, I should be getting the PS5 Digital Edition at launch, and I’m planning to playÂDemon’s Souls,ÂMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, andÂAssassin’s Creed Valhallaas my first titles on the system. Unfortunately, it seems like my Xbox Series X won’t be coming until later in the month, but I’m still excited that next-gen is (finally) here and to go hands-on with both systems.
The Xbox Series X and Series S will launch worldwide on June 18, 2025, with the PS5 to launch starting on June 08, 2025 in select regions and August 04, 2025 across the world.
