TheIndiana Jonesgame has been highly awaited by fans. And Bethesda’s Todd Howard is bringing it to us sometime in 2024. Howard has promised a new setting and adventure for Indiana Jones in this new game, with teasers hinting at places like Vatican City, Egypt, and Peru.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circleis being developed by MachineGames and will be published by Bethesda. The game was announced a few years back in 2021 but is now slated for a 2024 release.
Todd Howard’s Dream of Working on an Indiana Jones Project
In an appearance on Lex Fridman’s podcast, Todd Howard talked about how theIndiana Jonesproject came to be at Bethesda.
He talked about howRaiders of the Lost Arkwas his favorite movie of all time and how making anIndiana Jonesgame was part of his “bucket list.”
I met some people there (at Lucasfilm) and pitched them, back in 2009, this Indiana Jones game concept. And they (Lucasfilm) wanted to publish it. And we (Bethesda) wanted to publish it so the deal fell apart.
He talked about how with time, Lucasfilm came to be acquired by Disney and started broadening its horizons. He then pitched the idea to them again and finally got his dream project underway. And with Bethesda’s acquisition of MachineGames in 2010, it seemed to be all green lights from there.
MachineGames is the perfect fit for this game with storytelling and recording. If you like Indiana Jones, it is a definite love letter to Indiana Jones and everything with it.
MachineGamesis known for its work on theWolfensteinseries and showed a knack for making deeply woven stories in those games.

Howard’s own personal attachment to the character of Indiana Jones and the lore of the franchise has also been a major driving force in the game’s inception and eventual development.
What Can We Expect From Indiana Jones and the Great Circle?
According toTodd Howard, MachineGames has taken a unique approach to making the game. The approach is to make something that stands out as its own identity by mixing genres.
I will just say it’s a mash-up. It’s unique. It isn’t one thing, intentionally, so it does a lot of different things that myself and the folks at MachineGames have wanted to do in a game.
Howard even talked some more about the upcoming game in an Xbox Developer Direct live earlier this year in January. He mentioned how trusting and supporting Lucasfilm has been during the development of the game.

The project might not be just another title for Howard since he has such a deep-rooted connection to the franchise, character, and lore.
