Shia LaBeouf’s Commitment to Religion Has Him Entering The Catholic Church
Shia LaBeouf has turned his life around in the past few years with his commitment to religion and churning out some of the best works of his acting career. The actor has been open about his fascination with religion and how it has changed him as a person. Through it, he has found a way to atone for his sins in the past and the actor recently took a big step in his life.
As reported byThe Hollywood Reporter, the actor has entered the Catholic Church and has been welcomed with open arms by the members of the church. Bishop Robert Barron expressed his happiness about the actor fully embracing his newfound love for his faith and beliefs. He said,
“We are thrilled to share that our dear friend Shia LaBeouf has fully entered the Church this past weekend through the sacrament of confirmation,”
The report also indicates that LaBeouf is keen on becoming a deacon in the future. His decision was inspired by his role of Padre Pio in the 2022 biographical film of the same name where he played the real-life Italian priest. It seems the actor has found his calling and is determined to live a blissful life ahead.

Playing Padre Pio Changed Shia LaBeouf As a Person
Shia LaBeoufplayed real-life Italian priest Padre Pio in the 2022 Abel Ferrara-directed film of the same name. Playing a priest meant the actor had to immerse himself in the history of the famed priest and his beliefs. Through the process, he was immensely inspired by him and in turn, changed him as a person.
While talking to theNational Catholic Register, LaBeouf claimed that delving deep into Pio’s life helped him to fight his inner demons and change his perspective towards life. He immediately connected to Pio’s life of struggle and silent pain and received an enormous amount of freedom in playing the character. He said,
“I can identify with Pio. He’s a man who suffered in silence and with patience. When you feel like you’re being accused of things that aren’t real, you have multiple options: You can get on social media and start explaining, showing receipts.
But as I learned about Padre Pio, I found that excusing certain behaviors, getting loud … all that started to fall away. The deeper I got into Pio, the more he gave me a very productive, instructive way of moving in the world, coming out of the ‘shame cage.’”
