7 Days to Dieis finally leaving early access and transitioning to its 1.0 release after over a decade of early access and development.

With this milestone, the game will finally be coming to current-gen consoles, specifically the Xbox Series X/S and PS5. Normally, this would be good news and celebrated by the fanbase, but not everyone’s happy, and for a very pressing reason.
Fans Are Refusing to Pay for 7 Days to Die Again
The official X/Twitter account for7 Days to Dierecently announced exciting news about the official console edition launch. It also hinted at upcoming discounts as well as delisting the old listing (for previous generation consoles).
Wdym discount I want the ps5 version for free. I literally paid like 30 for ps4 version.

Not everyone in the fanbase seems thrilled, though. After having to pay $40 for the PS4 version of the game, this user expressed annoyance that they had to pay more money to get the PS5 edition. Rather, they felt they should get it for free as an automatic upgrade.
They don’t care they just want more money for something we already paid for

In response, another user accused the developers, The Fun Pimps, of not caring about the fanbase and being greedy instead.
Should be free for the people that supported this game years ago 🙄

A significant portion of the fanbase were people who had been supporting the game for years and years.

Some were even following the game’s progress closely when it was first released to the public in early access state in 2013.
I already paid for this game once. Not doing it again

It wasn’t just a few people replying with the same sentiment, but many. A lot of people seemed to feel they were entitled to a free upgrade after buying the PS4 version of the game.
Should You Have to Buy the Game Again?
7 Days to Dieseems to get itself intocontroversies where it may not even be at fault. This isn’t the first or last game to follow a monetization model like this.
Think aboutGTA 5,which was released on the PS3 in 2013, the same year as The Fun Pimp’s game. It was re-released for the PS4 and the PS5. No doubt, some people have bought every version or at least two out of the three.
Even GTA re released on next gen consoles. Guess what you have to buy the new version for it to work.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrimis another similar case. The popular open-world RPG came out on the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 at first.
Then there was theSpecial Edition, which was released on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2016. AnAnniversary Editioncame out on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Players had to buy each of these separately if they wanted them. There was no free upgrade, but upgrades were discounted (i.e., fromSpecial EditiontoAnniversary Edition).
Na, they deserve the money it took to get it on the current generation consoles.
It’s a similar model this game is following, allowing people to upgrade their PS4 version to the PS5 version at a discounted price.
Some people feel the developers deserve the money for the time and energy they spent on bringing it to current-gen consoles.
What is your opinion on the whole debacle? Is it fair to charge for an upgrade or should players have gotten it for free? Let us know in the comments below!
