Prior to 2011’sSucker Punch, the only projects that Zack Snyder delved into were either a remake likeDawn of the Deador adaptations of established IPs like300andWatchmen. But after his first original feature failed, he took the reigns of the DC universe, and while he only directed three proper movies, the polarizing nature of these releases led to the DCEU falling apart.

WhileSnyderversefans are still campaigning for the continuation of Snyder’s vision after the regime change resulted in the DCEU shutting down, Snyder seems to have moved on from this chapter of his career.

Zack Snyder Is Happy With the New Chapter of His Career
Although much ofZack Snyder‘s filmography is dictated by CBMs and adaptations of renowned IPs, it was quite evident since the 2010s that the director was inclined towards more original works. And while his first attempt failed to make it big, withSucker Punchbecoming a critical and box-office disappointment, in recent years, he has finally found his footing, thanks to the streaming era.
Following in the footsteps of his previous original flick,Army of the Dead, Snyder has kickstarted his ambitious franchise withRebel Moon, the director is long past his days handling established IPs. And on asked if he would willing to get back to DC again, the director had a blunt response, explaining he is quite content with dealing with original IPs and won’t be knocking onJames Gunn‘s door. He toldThe Atlantic:

“I’m not knocking on James Gunn’s door, going, like, ‘Bro, shoot me one of those sweet movies. The holy grail is some original IP that you create, that has resonance and is cool.”
Although with that statement, the hopes of witnessing a follow-up to hisSupermanmovie is off the grid, he did express his want to adapt Frank Miller’sThe Dark Knight Returns.
