Beau DeMayo thinks Marvel did a bad job with the new season ofWhat If…?. TheX-Men ’97creator, who was earlier pushed out from the franchise, didn’t even bother to pinpoint what went wrong withWhat If…? Season 3. A general consensus among critics and audiences suggested that the third season is proving to be an underwhelming conclusion to one of the Marvel Multiverse Saga’s best ideas.

DeMayo and Marvel Studios do not share a great relationship after the studio fired him fromX-Men ’97over egregious findings against him during an internal investigation. The studio’s explanation for his firing came after DeMayo took to his socials to accuse Marvel of unreasonably removing him from the writing credits ofX-Men ’97 Season 2.
Beau DeMayo gives his verdict forWhat If…? Season 3and it’s brutal
Beau DeMayowent after Marvel in the most brutal way when he attacked the new season ofWhat If…?. His review for the series read,“yikes just yikes.”He further mocked the series by sharing that he would’ve watched the series to give more notes but he had“some water to watch boil.”WhileDeMayo may be biased against the studio, there is some truth to his brutal review.
I’d watch more to give notes on how it could’ve easily been done better but I have some water to watch boil

Critics are largely divided on the currently running third and final season ofWhat If…?. TheRotten Tomatoesrating for the third season is also a significant drop from its earlier seasons. Jeffrey Wright‘s The Watcher returns in the series, which will air its eight episodes back to back from December 22 to December 29. Interestingly, Matthew Chauncey, who replaced DeMayo as theX-Men ’97head writer, also replaced A.C. Bradley as the head writer of this season.
One of the major issues with the final season was the restrictions the stories placed upon themselves. Instead of exploring anything and everything related to Marvel, it is believed that this third season is trying to fit things into the Multiverse Saga. The episodes of the current season include:

Things can still turn around for the series in its final two episodes. The title of the last episode itself suggests that the series would open up several more multiverse possibilities before its conclusion.

Marvel immediately responded to the allegations with a statement toVariety, sharing that DeMayo was“terminated following an internal investigation.”They added that the studio severed ties with the writer after the“egregious nature of the findings”. An unnamed source told Variety that the investigation found evidence of s*xual misconduct.
While the official version of things doesn’t state anything explicitly, insider Jeff Sneider reported gross s*xual misconduct allegations against DeMayo (via GameRant). According to The Insneider, theX-Men ’97showrunner sent photos of himself in“states of undress”to young male staffers.
