After starring as Johnny Storm inFantastic Fourand before stealing our hearts as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chris Evans played a role in yet another film adapted from comic books –Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. However, instead of his usual hero roles, the actor played one of the seven villains in the film – Lucas Lee.

Chris Evans as Lucas Lee in Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World

Lucas Lee plays a stereotypical Hollywood actor who basically seems like a total douchebag. Anyone who has seen Chris Evans outside of his reel life, perhaps in the countless interviews he has done, would vouch for the fact that the guy is an absolute ball of joy. So, how did he play Lucas Lee to such perfection? Even he was confused when he got compliments on nailing the role!

Chris Evans Was Shocked by the Reception of His Performance inScott Pilgrim vs. the World

Based on the graphic novel series by Bryan Lee O’Malley,Scott Pilgrim vs. the Worldis the story ofMichael Cera’s titular character and his quest to win over Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). In order to be able to date the girl of his dreams, Scott Pilgrim has to defeat seven of her exes aka the League of the Evil Exes.

One of the evil exes is Lucas, played byChris Evans. Lucas is an arrogant and cocky Hollywood actor and a really good skateboarder. While he enjoys flaunting his success, he sure is a huge bully alone. He is unimaginably strong which became evident when he sent Scott flying into a tower with ease.

Scott is no match for Lucas’ power which is why he challenges his opponent’s ego instead. He does so by asking if he is good enough at skateboarding and challenging him to prove so by performing a dangerous skateboard trick. He crashes and fails leading to Scott’s victory over him. All in all, a pretty fun moment from a pretty fun film.

However, when Evans signed up to play the role of an arrogant ex/skateboarder/actor, he didn’t know people would think he’d be“perfect”for the role.

The character’s supposed to be this horrible actor and a douchebag, and I get the job and so many people were like, ‘You’re perfect, you’re gonna crush it!’ I was like, So I got this role as an a**hole actor, and you guys think I nailed it? That I’m a natural and that nobody in town can do it better?

That’s probably the most fun I’ve had on a movie. Early in my career, 20s, but a big cast of people in the same place.

In fact, when his scenes in the film were done and dusted and it was time for him to pack up, he didn’t want to leave the set at all. Evans was down to simply hang out with the rest of the cast and crew.

The cast was very connected. Leaving was heartbreaking. It was truly like the first I was like, ‘I mean, I can just hang out guys if you need me.’ You don’t want to miss a beat.

In the end, the actor revealed that the film’s cast is still“tight”and connected with each other with an active email chain.
