Following the accident, the actor’s neighbor dialed emergency services who took him to intensive care in a life-threatening condition. The run-down broke close to 30 of his bones, fractured his legs, punctured his lungs, and left him with a lacerating liver. Even after undergoing a string of surgeries, his condition remained critical. In such a situation, his now 11-year-old daughter, Ava, came to his rescue, as per his own wordsin talks with ET via CBS8.

Feeling“guilty”for the same, he felt a renewed determination in himself to not give up and help himself heal for he had to live for his daughter. Magically, the thought worked, and his condition started to improve.

In a recent revelation, it came to light that after the accident,Renner’s heart stopped beatingfor a while. Additionally, his period at the hospital and subsequent recovery involved massive challenges. From pain management medicines, physical therapy, post-traumatic stress disorder, and loss of mobility to dealing with thoughts of absolute death, the actor battled it all.
In another shocking detail, he also opened up aboutwriting his final words to his familyfrom the hospital. Furthermore, with eight broken ribs and multiple broken joints, his condition remained extremely dire.
