Multiplayer games dominate the modern gaming industry for their fun and teamplay experience. However, toxicity and harassment issues have also plagued the community with the rise of these games. Players are throwing insults and engaging in hate speech.

In response to these growing concerns, game developers are constantly finding and implementing new ways to grow a more positive and welcoming gaming environment. Recently, Riot Games introduced new guidelines forValorantthat include a Hardware ban for severe toxicity cases.
Call of Duty’s Different Approach to Maintaining Fair Play
With the recentValorantdevelopers’ announcement, they have made clear that harassment and toxicity are not what they want in their game. Developers made it very clear that if they found a very severe or repeated case against a player, they would use hardware bans as a measure to combat toxic behavior.
When talking about multiplayer games, the first title that comes to mind isCall of Duty. The toxicity is present but the game has an even bigger issue to handle. The number of cheaters in the general matchmaking lobby was very vast and it was affecting the whole lobby.

A Hardware Ban is a serious measure as the banned players won’t be able to play the game with the same hardware. However,Call of Dutyhas long used hardware bans as a means to combat cheating within its player base. By implementing hardware bans, the game aims to make it more difficult for cheaters to simply create new accounts and continue their activities.
