Diaz, however, reportedly felt that her music too was overrated. In an interview with The New York Daily News (viaThe Daily Mail), Diaz said that she was tired of Carey’s music being played everywhere and called it torture. She said,
If you really want to torture me, sit me in a room strapped to a chair and put Mariah Carey’s records on.
Mariah Carey’s label had reportedly released her first compilation album of her number-one hits at the time.

Diaz’s comments reportedly reached Carey as she detailed in an interview with FHM Magazine (viaThe Things) how she confronted theVanilla Skyactress and put the feud to rest. She said,
People think that I’m this little girl next door and they can say stuff about me and I’ll never check them if they run into me. Wrong. I decided I should seize the opportunity to straighten a few things out.
She then reportedly mentioned that she confronted Diaz at a restaurant and asked her about her comments. Diaz apparently mentioned that her words were twisted by the media, which Carey was convinced by.
