Almost two years since its release on July 21, 2025,Elden Ringis still thriving and pulling in more players as fans await the game’s first DLC to drop any time over the next few months. Developers FromSoftware Inc. have been phenomenal with Soulslike titles earlier with theDark Soulsfranchise and now withElden Ring.

The studio also developedSekiro: Shadows Die Twice, another massive hit. FromSoftware Director Hidetaka Miyazaki recently chatted with Xbox Wire to speak aboutElden Ring‘s development and his favorite boss in the game while also mentioning two other runner-ups.
FromSoftware Inc. Director Names His Favorite Elden Ring Boss
Hidetaka Miyazaki, Director FromSoftware Inc., sat down to answer a few questions by Xbox Wire andspokeat length aboutElden Ringand the bosses in the game. Regarding creating the game’s open-world design, Miyazaki mentioned thatElden Ringhad become a “far bigger” project in terms of production compared toDark Soulsand other FromSoftware titles.
Regarding the design decisions to determine which bosses spawned in which specific area of the game, Miyazaki answered that “the setting establishes from an early stage which boss will appear in that area.”

When Miyazaki was asked for his favorite boss inElden Ring, Miyazaki mentioned that it was a difficult question to answer before eventually mentioning Starscourge Radahn as his favorite boss in the game. Godrick and Rykard were mentioned as runners-up choices by Miyazaki. Miyazaki also mentioned that the Fingercreeper is one of his favorite designs.
General Radahn is one of the most favorite bosses fans are hoping to see in the DLC,Shadow of the Erdtree. Radahn posed one of the toughest challenges in the game, but fans still empathized with him after hearing his backstory, and after the fight, players gave him an honorable death.

Bosses Who Could Become Miyazaki’s New Favorite After DLC Release
Malenia, Blade of Miquella, is the next fan-favorite boss to make an appearance in the upcoming DLC,Shadow of the Erdtree. Malenia also posed one of the toughest and most memorable fights in the game, with tactical dodges and the ability to regain health with every hit. Radagon and the Elden Beast, the final two bosses in theElden Ring, are also considered top favorites to return.
The Fingercreeper is known to be the creepiest and most grotesque boss in the game. The game features three versions of the Fingercreeper, including a Fingercreeper, a Lesser Fingercreeper, and a Colossal Fingercreeper, and all three of the bosses are equally annoying and creepy.

While players with arachnophobia might not like the return of the severed hand with an unnatural number of fingers, the grotesque beast could become Miyazaki’s new favorite boss if it returns in the DLC since Miyazaki already loves the overall grotesque design of the boss.
There is no news on the release date for the highly anticipatedElden RingDLC, but fans anticipate a late February or spring release. There are Reddit forums filled with wild theories already on the potential date for the release.
