Director Christopher Nolan has established himself as one of the few filmmakers who can consistently tell fresh stories. Nolan’s films received critical acclaim and the director built his success on the back of hisDark Knighttrilogy. However, Nolan has since stayed away from the plague of franchise filmmaking.

As far as whether or not I would have ever done it, the truth is I think I’d be afraid to touch it!
Nolan made the above statement without revealing whether he was approached or discussed possibly directing a movie in the space opera saga.

However, the filmmaker revealed that he would be too scared to play in the sandbox created by George Lucas. He praised Abrams for helming the movie despite having directed the newStar Trekmovies. Hence, Nolan suggested he wouldn’t dare to repeat himself, and also added that he preferred being free from the expectations that come with joining the franchise.

I first saw Star Wars in 1977 when I was 7 years old, and I’ve never forgotten the incredible nature of that experience—the possibility of the screen opening up, sucking you in, and taking you to a different galaxy.

Nolan made the above statement, recalling the memory of watching the 1977 original movie for the first time.
