Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamityis now just a little over a month away. The game, which is a prequel to 2016’sThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, is due out for theNintendo Switchon November 20. After a couple of weeks of teasing information, Nintendo yesterday gave us our biggest and best look at the game yet. Shown off live during theirTreehouse presentation, we got a deeper look at some of the playable characters inAge of Calamity, as well as some tasty pieces of lore and some of the other mechanics within the game.

The first character demonstrated duringthe presentationwas the Gerudo Champion, Urbosa. Running around a very familiar looking Gerudo Town, Urbosa was tackling hoards of Yiga Clan members. During combat, the presenters discussed how Urbosa could charge and use lightning to strengthen both her strong and weak attacks, shocking enemies in the process.

Within the demonstration, Urbosa was also seen using multiple ofBreath of the Wild’sRunes. Working very similarly to those in the original game, players can use Stasis, Cryonis, Magnesis and Bombs to aid in battle. It was confirmed that not only could Urbosa use them, but every other playable character in the game too.

During the Urbosa mission, we got a brief glimpse of Princess Zelda in action, where it was confirmed that she uses the aforementioned Runes as her main form of attack in the game.

We then got a look at a training mode withinHyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. This mode saw Link fighting off waves of Hylian Soldiers and Captains, before coming face to face with Daruk, the Goron Champion. This training mode allows players to collect material and become familiar with the different weapons within the game. The training took place in an area that “appeared as ruins inBreath of the Wild”, which is almost certainly a returning Lon Lon Ranch.

Weapons and material collected throughout Hyrule can be crafted into more powerful items. Visiting a blacksmith will allow players to fuse weapons to buff and create even more powerful equipment. Much to the joy of some out there, it was confirmed during the presentation, that there is no durability system and weapons will not break throughout the game. Players can also take food to cooking points to craft recipes, combine monster parts for other buffs and equip some familiar armour pieces, just likeBreath of the Wild.

The final character we got a look at was therecently announced Impa. Looking far younger than she did inBreath of the Wild, Impa employs tactics similar to those in the Yiga Clan, attacking at breakneck speed and teleporting around the battlefield. Impa can also duplicate herself multiple times over to give massive buffs to her attack damage.

The Nintendo Treehouse Live event also gave us some smaller details about the game. The map thatHyrule Warriors: Age of Calamityis set on is exactly that fromThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, only 100 years earlier. The infamous Koroks will also return in some aspect and will be hidden around the map. Alongside Koroks, plenty of major enemies will also be returning, including Molduga and Hinox.

Based on this showing, the game is going to be a must-play for any Zelda fan out there. It looks steeped in lore and incredibly true toBreath of the Wildbefore it. It drops on November 20, so keep your eyes peeled here for any more information in the lead up to release.
