When the final season of Netflix’sCastlevaniaaired, fans were satisfied to see that the series gave a perfect ending to a perfect story adapted from the video game. However, as gaming fans might be aware, theCastlevaniavideo game had over 30 games, and not every game was from the original timeline and featured its own story.

This is why, whenCastlevania: Nocturnewas announced, the fans of the show were excited to see how the spin-off series would hold in terms of reception as compared to the first one. While the creators had everything planned, the only thing that scared them was the action sequences, asCastlevaniahad set the bar too high with the fight scenes.
The directors of the show, Sam and Adam Deats, once revealed that the action scenes were the toughest element of creatingCastlevania: Nocturne, as they had tough competition to beat because of one specific episode from the previous series.

The Best Action Scene inCastlevania
When the first season ofCastlevania: Nocturnedropped,Colliderinterviewed the director brothers ofCastlevaniaand the showrunner, Kevin Kolde. During the interview, the directors were asked about the pressure they felt while creating the action sequences, knowing that they had to beat the previous ones.

Adam replied:
I didn’t know if we would ever top Season 2, Episode 7 [Trevor/Sypha/Alucard vs. Dracula], to be honest with you. When that happened, I was like, “How are we going beat this?” And then Season 4 happened, the Trevor-and-Death fight happened, and I was like, “Well, shit, how are we going top this now?” We’re absolutely worried about it, but it’s also just a challenge we accept.
According to director Adam, the seventh episode of season 2, whichfeatured the iconic fightbetween Trevor, Sypha, and Alucard vs. Dracula, was the one that set the bar too high for them. The episode had such great animation and fight sequences that it made the creators wonder how they would top it. And then the fight between Trevor and Death came in the last episode, which once again leveled up the bar.

CastlevaniaDirectors Try To Find New Abilities of the Characters
Continuing the discussion about the action sequences, Sam revealed that although the pressure is high while dealing with battle scenes and fight sequences, it also gives them a thrill and keeps them invested. They are always trying to find new ways through which they can beat the previous episodes.
Sam stated:
Obviously, there’s a little bit of pressure of trying to do better and keep people excited. But even from a personal, creative perspective, it keeps me invested to find new ways to do things that are fun and exciting. I never like to just rehash the same stuff with the action. Not only is it something for the fans, but also, for me, it’s fun to try and find new ways to explore the abilities of the characters.
According to the director, he doesn’t like to use the same abilities or techniques for a character. Thus, he tries to find other abilities that he can add that would indirectly help in making the fight scene even better.
